Become.com Goes Beta

Become.comRemember about half a month ago I reported on Become.com, a search engine I truely beleived in? Well I’m glad to announce today that Become.com has launched in Beta.

You need to register in-order to try it out, and IMHO once you do, you’ll be glad you did. As you can see in the screenshot (which you need to enlarge to see ;) ), the interface is much like Google, almost a shopping Google (Froogle), but the difference about this is that instead of PageRank, it uses something called “Affinity Index Ranking”, a patented algorithm which takes feedback from humans as we try out Become.com and applies it to its results.

I actually quite liked Become.com, and I’m sure this will be, if not a Google, at least an AskJeeves.

On a related note to Become.com, Jason Dowdell reports that Become.com’s Got Talent — John Glick, an ex Yahoo, has left Yahoo! to join Become.com. Wow! I can’t wait to see what the audience will think about Become.com.
