How many times do you get this? A company announces a partnership with another company saying it will replace its other partnership, and that other company declines. Are we just trying to make it into the news here or trying to sound cool?
Well this is the case with Enhance and Ask. Apparently, Enhance recently announced a partnership with Ask saying that it will replace its Google ads you get in the SERPs, and apparently, Ask said it’s nothing like that. Not going to happen.
I wonder who’s really telling the truth though (and without knowing I promise I won’t bash either of the companies). Is Enhance saying the truth, and that they did have such a deal, and is AskJeeves declining it in front of the public or is Ask telling the truth and Enhance just made that stuff up.
Update: Well here’s an update, apparently this was all based on some fake e-mails created by Enhance employees in-order to increase sales. It was completely un-authorised and is not true. Mark S. Peterson, VP of Public Relations, for Marchex (the parent company of Enhance) comments:
“The published story ?Ask Jeeves Joins Forces with Enhance Interactive to Offer Google AdWords Alternative? was based on completely unauthorized and inaccurate emails created by members of Enhance Interactive?s sales team. We take this matter very seriously and have taken immediate actions internally to address this.”
I’ve had some experience with a few Enhance folks when I was running FeedPlex, but then I decided I would be better of without any ads or maybe Google Adsense at the most. But this never happened. Just wanted to add that in. 😉
