Google blog recently announced the addition of Google Q&A to search queries, which provides facts and answers to questions above the search results. MSN Search provides a simiar feature using Encarta. Providing answers of course is the entire premise for Ask Jeeves.
Google Q&A pulls data from many sources, including Wikipedia and the CIA factbook.
Google Q&A is also offered via Google SMS.
What’s interesting is that Google is not producing it’s own content. They’re scraping from other web sites and presenting in Google search results. I’ve been trying it out and results are pretty limited compared to MSN. There were several queries that responded in MSN and Ask.com fine, but nothing appeared in Google. Perhaps it’s too early to evaluate.
