Paypal, hmmm, I love PayPal. It’s been my ‘pal’ (so to say) for a few years, and if there’s any Paypal-kind-of service I trust, it’s PayPal. Google obviously doesn’t like that because word is, Google’s working on their own Paypal, called Google Wallet.
I’m sort of excited about the Google Wallet thing (e.g. I can imagine stuff on the streets like “If you wallet me $20, I can give you my Hitch DVD.”), but if there’s one big big big request I would give to Google, it’s to make Google Wallet and PayPal cross-compatible. I know this isn’t likely to happen, because seriously, what kind of a competitor partners with his competitor, but it’s just that I have a few dollars in my PayPal account (credit) which I use to buy stuff from eBay, and that’s one of the big reasons I use PayPal really, and if this Google Wallet arrives and gets the web to talk about it, tranferring my PayPal credit would really be a pain.
Of course, it’s not like eBay will be switching to G-Wallet or anything like that, but it’s just that it would be much more flexible if they both work together on some things (SOME things) and have a lesser ‘my biggest competitor is X’ kind of ego and more of a ‘a competitor who we work with is X’.
Anyway, nothing’s final yet, so you can’t really predict much, but yeah, it’s something I’m looking forward to.
