To be honest, and laugh all you want, until today I didn’t know what “folksonomy” meant. Since I came back with this blog, as you can imagine, I’ve been reading a lot — and this term, “folksonomy” kept popping up in places. At first I thought it would be some kind of a new evolution such as “podcasting,” which believe me takes up at least 4 hours of my day, and I left it at that.
But then, just today, I wanted to find out why I’m seeing all these blogs with these CSS-styled tags which vary in sizes in the header space. One answer: TagCloud and one word: folksonomy.
Since then, I’ve been fiddling around with TagCloud for a while now and have a fully working cloud with my OPML list. Unfortunately, when I tried implementing the cloud to this site, the template got a bit mushy so I just left it.
But I truly believe in folkonomy, I might add, because being a daily Stumbler, Flickrer (ah yes, the URL is for me to know and you to find out
), and now a TagClouder (soon to be a Technorati tagger as well), folksonomy is something I think might be a part of something bigger — e.g. folksonomy is never be something that the world will use — such as e-mail and soon enough RSS — but it will be a part of a greater idea, or maybe RSS itself? Who knows.
