The Secret Code: 4232.2233

Yes, you guessed it, I’m talking about gada.be, the latest ‘thing’ for cell phones. What is it? It’s Chris Pirillo’s latest “nifty idea,” a meta search engine which takes out the frustration of a lot of things. Traditionally, surfing on cellphones is a task. Go to google.com [wait] type query [wait] navigate to result [wait]. Even if you think you’re smart and go directly to http://www.google.com/search?q=blabla, you still wait (possibly longer).

Instead, Pirillo has wielded a solution to this. Go to gada.be (4232.2233) then type your query [it's fast]. What’s better, go directly to yourquery.gada.be (as a subdomain). Simple. This is an idea which is, as they would describe it, genius (possibly the G in the logo?).

I have to say, so far I like it and I can’t complain about anything (only suggest) because it’s in its very early beta. I don’t like the selection of search engines that come up (MSN, Yahoo! News, Google News, Flickr etc) — I think they could be better — but I do think the layout is not bad. It’s simple, yet it works. If I knew Chris, I would say to him, good job Chris.

  • I've yet to meet someone who knows how to key in del.ic.iou.s... er, d.elic.io.us?
  • Ahh.. Sorry Chris, missed them out (tried it mostly on the cell and was too engrossed with the query-as-a-subdomain feature). The selection is actually not that bad that I look at it again (in the cats).

Just as an alternative, geni.us (43366444.887777) could've been the name, but I guess that's too long and a rip off of deli.cio.us ;)
  • Have you tried the different categories? :) We have over 140 vendors in there...
