Few things to delight your weekend…
Google Earth or Real Earth?
Typically, if a picture like this is shown to a I-love-Google-Earth-it-rocks guy, he (or she) would beleive this picture is from Google Earth. But what if I tell you it isn’t. What if I tell you it was captured in real life by the crew on board during Columbia’s last mission. What if I tell you the left half of the picture is day while the other is night and the yellow dots you see on the right are city lights. Yup, you better beleive what I’m saying because it’s true. This is a classic picture which has been circulating around the Internet for years (I think), I just happened to receive a copy this morning and found at least one of this weekend’s de lights.
If you don’t beleive me, have a click at any of these results here and you’ll be able to see the original e-mail. Ok ok, I’ll post a snippet:
The photograph attached was taken by the crew on board the Columbia during its last mission, on a cloudless day.
The picture is of Europe and Africa when the sun is setting. Half of the picture is in night.
The bright dots you see are the cities’ lights. The top part of Africa is the Sahara Desert.
Note that the lights are already on in Holland, Paris, and Barcelona, and that’s it’s still daylight in Dublin, London, Lisbon, and Madrid.
Plant a Secret Message. Literally.
A few very interesting folks have come up with a seed which your supposed to plant and after 7 days of good watering grows a secret message on top. No, this is not a joke. No they don’t magically teleport using the information from the government to each of their customers and write a message on top after the seven days. It just happens. Amazing ain’t it? What’s more amazing..er..interesting is one of their paragraphs in their "who should buy the message plant" page:
Men (even male dogs) like to be appreciated! They take out the garbage (hopefully), take care of your “Honey Do lists”, cut the lawn (which they love to do??), lose 99% of all arguments, and still find time to watch football all day on Sunday. Remind them that you love them!!
WAVE 3.0 – Tool that Analyses your Site
I know you’ve probably heard about a lot of tools which ‘analyse your website’ but this one, namely Wave 3.0 is quite different to what you may have seen in the past. How is it different you will have to see for yourself.
There is no way to describe the difference, but if you’re a HTML bloke like me, you will get it.
That’s it for this week, hope to see you all next week!
