Bebo Turns Down $550m, MySpace Top

How is it that the day I make a '33 places to social network' list, two very related things happen. Apparently Bebo turned down a $550 million offer from a British Telecom company and say they wanted a billion, and MySpace was named the top (most-trafficked) site on the web by Hitwise, above Google. First off, I think Bebo should've grabbed that offer as tightly as they could, perhaps they don't realise how hard to get such offers are. Second, I'm a bit skeptical about how long MySpace will last on there. Although this does show that there are more teens/young adults using the Internet than 'others,' far more.

MySpace is the only current success story, but let’s not forget Bebo turning down $550 million in the past and YouTube’s current $1.5 billion price. Also, as I mentioned above, Facebook’s own I-want-2-billion-not-750-million when they were talking with Viacom comes to mind. [...]

with all the money these sites are being offered I fell dumb for even considering the rumor that tom was going broke.
