Tim,
Good point. I guess the X factor which makes a product succeed is in not actually having it invent something new, but bringing together a selection of things to form something really really good as a whole. Apple's been doing this for a while now, whether it's the personal computer which they bought to the average consumer, the iPod where they screwed the Walkman and MP3 market with a great mix of features and price (again, did they really invent something?), or very recently the iPhone (Smartphones - exist. iPod - exists. The combo with a touch interface, huge screen, and other good things - doesn't.)

So, you could in a way say Joost is like an Apple product. They haven't really invented much except for the front-end to what people have probably been dreaming up for a decade; the ability to watch on-demand TV on the Internet. Their addition? An awesome awesome UI, look and feel, full-screen almost DVD-like video with the right Internet speed, seemless interface, etc. etc. Now, you don't see all this in YouTube do you?

Whether it goes ahead or not, I don't know, but I know having the names of the Skype founders' and the Apache project gives it SOME value for now.

Me too product. Bit Torrent, Veoh, YouTube are all much more compelling. With BitTorrent I can get all the copyrighted stuff I want, in higher quality than Joost. With Veoh, I can get a remote controlled Bit Torrent. With YouTube, I can watch whatever the hell I want, anytime. So tell me again why Joost is so interesting?
