MSN Reporter Nails a Good Digg Clone

MSN NieuwsAs LiveSlide, a blog tracking Microsoft’s Internet products noticed today, MSN has quietly launched MSN Reporter for people in the Netherlands, Belgium, and Norway. MSN Reporter is a digg clone and possibly the best and most original one I have seen to date.

Tracking general news, MSN Reporter fairly resembles digg and something noticeable is that they provide the option to undigg (or vote down) a story, so you get to see what people think in both aspects. For example, in the latest Britney-Spears-shaving-head scenario, you can see that 1922 people have given it a tick and 473 people a cross. This means 1922 people support her action and 473 don’t. I think this is an excellent addition and makes clear people’s intentions on a view point.

Another thing that puts MSN Reporter in its own ball game is the fact that for the first time, it’s a digg clone with a general audience. As we’ve seen with the tech-dominated digg, delicious, Reddit and Netscape, such an audience is hard to gain, and MSN being the food for the average consumer, that’s one thing they don’t have to worry about.

I like the idea of MSN Reporter and I really think it fills in a huge gap and deserves to exist. For the meanwhile, I can’t wait to see the English version.

She is often compared to Madonna – and just like Madonna, she gets a lot of attention, both good and bad. Madonna and Britney have had their share of controversy, which is part of what makes them icons. Though dressing scantily and having people talking about it is not exactly anything new, it sells, and it sells big time. Britney seems to be making quite the comeback. She's set to embark on her first world tour in years in spring or early summer of 2009, where she will be appearing on stages across the globe to cement her status as still the reigning Queen of Pop. There's been a lot of blog activity about her recent ventures, and it seems that a lot of people are warm to the idea of her return to success.
