Weebly, a web-based website creation startup I’ve been following ever since its initial launch announced a relaunch today. The tool which let users make websites through an AJAX interface is now even better.
A lot of new key features have been added in the new features. The newly relaunched site features a completely new editing and management interface, multiple column layouts, a new photo gallery and contact form element, integration with Google Maps and YouTube, and 7 newly designed themes.
Ever since I first used it, I’ve found Weebly to be a really good, simple, and easy-to-use tool with a really flash interface. Now, as they’re expanding, I can see how they might be able to build a market around this idea and actually survive in the 2.0 space. As a ‘web office’ emerges, let’s not forget one of the elements of the traditional Office suite: a WYSIWYG website editor (FrontPage). Could Weebly be the web-based counterpart?
