Metacafe already has tons of instructional videos and they have a whole category of them so they’re easy to find. I wouldn’t go to a new site just for something that I can find on a site I already use, especially since that site (metacafe) already has other great videos for when I want a break from the intsructional ones.

video how-tos is a very interesting niche…
I guess 5min and videojug will front some more competitors in the next few months.
The Smart player is a nice begining.
I’ve embeded a video to my blog and it took the smart player with it – nice one.
it will be intersting to watch where will these guys take it from here.

Though I understand some of your statements I think that the audiences are different and the guy that make chess videos is not the same one that films the regular ‘youtube’ semi-fun movies.

I don’t know, its a tuff call. I really think that niched video sites has a chance, since YouTube and Metecafe are really loaded woth videos. For me, there is an over-information there. But maybe you’re right – time will tell.
BTH, I saw that 5min has a diffrent Flas player, which you didn’t mention. They created tools soely for instruction such as zoom, slow moition, frame-to frame etc…
I’ve neber seen a media player like that and it might do the difference. But again, I think only time will tell…
