Dinefly Announces Web 2.0 Restaurant Portal

Dinefly, a joint venture of Vilcorp, Inc. and restaurant software developer GuestBridge, Inc., announced today its new restaurant information and reservation portal.

The President of Vilcorp describes the site as a “MySpace for restaurants.” Dinefly gives restaurants the ability to manage their own listings. By allowing restaurants this control, Dinefly is hoping that restaurants will create detailed listings for their restaurants that will provide current information for their customers.

How it Works
Diners can go to Dinefly and can search based on geography, cuisine type, rewards programs, and awards. The site has also incorporated a feature it calls the “Feed Me Now” feature which allows users to see which restaurants will have a table open within the hour. After searching by location for example, you can sort by table availability, price and type of cuisine. The site also allows users to create reviews, view menus, and has some social elements as well.

Opinion
Dinefly is easy to use, does have a lot of useful information, and has some interesting features that could be great. The only problem, which is to be expected of a new website, is the lack of user feedback and detailed restaurant profiles. If this site takes off, I expect it could become a popular destination for food lovers everywhere.

I think this is a very innovative idea and would expect to see a portal like this. The downside as mentioned in this review is that the site is still young. If word catches on and restaurants take ownership of their listings, this could be pretty viral. Cool site!

Cool site! As mentioned by Brandon Bean above, “The only problem, which is to be expected of a new website, is the lack of user feedback and detailed restaurant profiles. If this site takes off, I expect it could become a popular destination for food lovers everywhere.”, how does a site like this get content filled in their early stages?
