Another superb week at Rev2. As always, Brandon did a great job of covering a lot of cool stuff — most I couldn’t ever possibly do myself — and we also welcomed another new writer to the clan, 16 year-old Zach Sims from Connecticut. Zach’s had a terrific start as well, not to mention a ton of awesome stuff lined up for the coming weeks. We more than tripled our average post frequency as well, which is great to hear. Anyway, here’s what went on in Web 2.0 land this week:
- Yahoo! was rumored to buy Bebo for $1 billion — looks like they’re still in the talking stages though.
- Operator11 debuted a cool social television network.
- Google and Salesforce.com discussed an alliance, something great for the industry.
- TalentSpring launched an innovative way to find jobs and look for candidates.
- Zooomr released Mark III, a major update to their product — possibly a Flickr killer.
- Change.org is a visionary non-profit site which aims to bring a change in the world by gathering passionate people.
- Justin.tv relaunched and added a ‘Network’ to their standalone concept.
- Nexo provides a ‘Web 2.0 in a nutshell’ for online groups. Literally.
- Technorati implemented their new design — looking much better.
- Rootly relaunched their Newsvine competitor.
- Google bought FeedBurner for $100 million.
- Zach explained how ePals could end up being the integrated solution for students in the future.
- Facebook opened up their platform to allow third-party developers. No doubt something industry-changing.
- Jangl is a great new anonymous Internet/E-mail calling service.
- Zach did an in-depth report on what Facebook opening up could mean for everyone.
- Pandora expanded their service to mobile phones and implemented a new interface to their website.
- ChangingThePresent introduces generosity, i.e. donating and helping non-profits, to Web 2.0.
- Attendio is a cool local event discovery service.
