Tripbase Suggests Travel Destinations

Tripbase is a new travel suggestion service which lets users decide which aspects of a city are most important and recommends destinations based on those criteria. Tripbase is currently in alpha testing, but it demonstrates some promising features.

How it Works
Without having to register, Tripbase begins your search by asking you to rate the importance of the nightlife, dining, shopping, nature, and attractions of your perfect travel destination. Right away, Tripbase throws out some possible cities that meet your criteria, and then allows you to narrow that down even more. Some other criteria you can select include the dates of your trip, your budget, the weather, and the tourist season.

Tripbase provides a lot of great relevant information about the cities that you chose earlier in your search. The site provides an estimated cost per day, shows you the weather and gives photos of the city. Along with these features, Tripbase has tied into other sources of information and gives users articles, travel guides, and things to do in your destination city. Kayak is the flight, hotel, car, and cruise search that was built into Tripbase.

Opinion

I really like this site for a number of reasons. First, the layout is simple, doesn’t require scrolling, and doesn’t require registration. Second, the site does include a lot of really relevant information in a very small space. Third, I really like the included weather information that gives you specific information relevant for your travel dates. Overall, this site is looking good for an alpha release, and of course, will be much more useful as the database of cities grows.
