Runner+ is a social network for runners who want to step up their workout routine by taking advantage of the online community and new technology.
How it Works
This site is really focused around the Nike+iPod setup that tracks your running distances and times. After logging in to Runner+, you can sychronize your run data with the site and your data is added to your profile. You can download the data in spreadsheet form, view your runs in chart form, compare your runs with those of your friends, and change your own run data. If you are antsy about sharing this data with the world, you can make your info private as well.
Runner+ also has a busy forums, group area, videos and a blog. After looking through some of the user’s profiles, I first noticed how useful and clean the charts are. Some of the available charts include individual run charts and a chart comparing all of your runs. For those of you trying to get in shape, the site also tracks calories burned and weight, so this could help as a motivational tool.Another great feature of the site is the “power songs” page. This is where users post the artists and titles of some of their favorite motivational songs to help you push through your run.
Opinion
I think this is a really great service. I don’t have the shoes or the iPod, so you guys will have to give this a try yourselves. However, the site is really clean, easy on the eyes, and does demonstrate some great functionality.
