Google Maps has released a pretty useful new feature change to Google Maps. Now, all of your routes can be dragged to change them. You still create destinations in the same way, but now you can grab different “handles” Google has added to the blue route line and you can drag them to different roads or highways.
This is a very small change, but it is a really handy one. Everyone prefers taking certain routes, so this just simplifies the creation of a route map. Drivers taking really long trips will really appreciate this now that they can avoid certain highways entirely and still have an accurate calculation of the distance between your start and end points.
A little bit of an off-topic side note for non-profit developers who may read this post. Today Google also launched the Google Earth Outreach program which lets non-profit organizations showcase their content in Google Earth using KML. You can see a showcase of some of the possibilities here.
