St. Louis based Ramped Media has launched its ImThere service. ImThere is a user driven event site that heavily integrates mobile devices. The service expands “events” as you know them from other similar sites to “interest-related events, such as the release of a product like the iPhone, hot new movies, album releases, or even Talk Like a Pirate Day.”
With ImThere, users form communities based around individual events or series of events. After joining a community, you can meet with the other users and discuss the event or meet in person. Additionally, the site has integrated mobile features allowing you to share your experiences at events with others using your mobile device.
After finding an event or creating an event the site displays relevant information about the event. You can see the date the event is happening, where the event is happening, how much time is left until the event, a photo gallery, the users who are attending, and tags tied to the event. The comments section for each event works like a forum allowing users to instantly communicate about the event.
ImThere also has a Twitter-like aspect to it in that each user’s profile shows what they are doing right now. One profile I checked out mentioned that the user was at the movie Ratatouille right now. Each user’s timeline of events is shown as well in case you want to meet up with them somewhere.
I love the design, it is easy on the eyes and very colorful. For music lovers and concert-goers this site really is useful. Each profile shows a users favorite bands and venues allowing users to meet up and discuss bands and concerts. Already the site has 402 events, 159 venues, and 370 artists listed for users to browse.
