MyStrands.tvMyStrands.tv is a cool new service that’s been dubbed the ‘Last.FM for music videos’ — which is exactly what it is. Using data provided by music retailer Muze, the service finds similar artists and songs to the queried artist and displays the full music video from YouTube for them.

MyStrands.tvLike the simpleness of Last.FM, Pandora and others, the homepage consists of a simple textbox asking for an artist or group name. Upon querying one (for example, the Arctic Monkeys), MyStrands comes up with a selection of similar artists with similar songs. What’s displayed is the entire music video for particular songs from YouTube — a great way to bypass the recent online radio royalty act which has seen the departure of such services.

One of the advantages of a service as such, of course, is that users can make use of them like a personalized radio. MyStrands also has a dynamic playlist that it potentially does the trick for being one — letting you select if you want the next song either from either that same artist, a similar artist, or another artist.

If you live outside the U.S. and don’t have access to a service like Pandora, or you’re more of a music video junkie than just a simple song, give MyStrands a try.
