Spottt: Link Trading 2.0

Want to share some free love — and maybe get Google to love you more while at it? Try Spottt — a free link-trading service from the folks at AdBrite that lets users with the Spottt code embedded on their site exchange ads with other members. The service officially launched at the TechCrunch40 conference.

The service itself is pretty self-explanatory. Sign up, verify your account, create your ad — uploading a 125×125 ad image and a title — and embed the code on your website. When a site with the Spottt ad code is found as being relevant to yours, their ad is displayed and vice-versa. You can track your stats using their Stats-O-Rama service, and the embed code need not be embedded into just your blog — it can go into your MySpace, Xanga, and Live Journal profile too.

Bottom line: no one makes any money, but everyone gives and gets some free love. The idea is not new by itself, but the execution is dead-on. A hat-tip to the folks at AdBrite for finally bringing some ease and intuitiveness into the “darkly”-perceived link exchange business.

  • And a hat-tip right back atcha! Thanks for the great review. Now when is rev2 gonna have a Spottt up and running? :D
  • Hey Sid, I have posted a quick review about this site on http://crenk.com. I also predicted this was going to happen at least 3 days ago, because I saw an advertisement for their service on Techcrunch. No one pays $10,000 per month without a product or service.
