I recently learned about Outquib, an interesting new site that sets out to be the “world’s source of opinions” — a place where everyone can take part in debates and rallies and voice their views to the world — the end result being something that represents what the world is thinking.
Once signed up, users can create a debate or post in one. A debate is roughly a discussion where others can voice their feelings and opinions. To start one, Outquib asks you to give a title, description, and explain in a few words “what leanings people are aloud to take.” You can also browse through the debates and participate in them.
Additionally, users can start or take part in causes. In their definition, a cause is “where like-minded people get together to share their thoughts on important issues.” Translation: just like a debate, but instead of fighting with others, you’re curing aids. 😉
There’s been a decent amount of activity on Outquib already adn the site is undoubtedly off to a great start. As purely a surfer, I was also able to gain a valuable insight from browsing through it — for example, people’s opinion on America’s global role. The idea is certainly a valid one and if they were able to carry it out well — such as perhaps a Facebook app — it could be a valuable source for people who want to voice their opinions but don’t know where to do it.
