I just completed my download of the new WordPress iPhone application. I am actually testing it by writing this post. Since I have a few blogs that use the WordPress platform, this is probably the application I will use most on the iPhone. At first glance, the app seems to function relatively smoothly.
Although I was able to add some of my blogs, there are others that just seem not to load. Instead of giving me an error code, I am just signed out of the application and returned to my iPhone main screen. This is actually quite frustrating. Hopefully this is just something my non 3g antiquated phone is experiencing and not something that is problematic app wide.
It appears that the photos are placed on the bottom of the post and the writer is not able to move and edit them, but this is something we will all discover together since this is, afterall, our first post using the application.
Seems a bit difficult to use this application regularly since typing is already hectic on the iPhone. It will be easy to spot which bloggers are using this new app when reading their articles, based solely on the typos and lack of hyperlinking urls (since linking is not offered presently).
Even with everything that users might find wrong with this app, it is hard to be too judgemental and negative. Afterall this is a free application that is provided to all their members and not something the public is forced to use. It is easy to go back to posts if you are interrupted by a phone call as well. So for all those out there that will disparage this app, just be reminded you can always go back to the web version and pretend WordPress never made this free feature. Personally I will use it when traveling. Thanks WordPress.
