Game Your Video from Global Delight Technologies is a video editing app for the iPhone and iPad that lets you edit video as if you were playing at your favorite game console. The controls for video editing are all contained in a game controller-like interface that lets you do video editing that would normally require a high-priced, professional, hard-to-learn app to do.
If you’re like me, in fact, it will take you just a few minutes to master most of the controls and be editing video with all kinds of cool effects and filters. They’re fully controllable too, so you don’t just click auto-edit options and hope for the best like you do with a lot of freeware and cheap video editing software.
Using gestures off of the “game pad” on the screen, you can elicit slow-motion, add a black-and-white (BW) filter that makes your movie (or a segment) look like something from an old movie, add chipmunk voices (to existing soundtracks or voice overs you add), make Matrix-style moves with shadows and tracers, and more.
Of course, professional software has a ton of options, editing tools, and things you won’t find in an app like Game Your Video, but for a dollar, you can do a lot of the things that much higher-priced software does – and you can do it from your iPad or iPhone, which most other video editing software doesn’t allow.
There are some limits to what you can accomplish with this app, though. You can only load so much video onto your mobile device, the processor and output are limited so things will take some time to accomplish (when rendering) in some cases, etc.
Honestly, if you’re editing movie-length stuff, you need a pro app. If you’re using your app to make shorts that are fun to make and watch for your YouTube or Facebook channel, though, then this app is a definite plus.
Very cool and fun.
