William Shatner has had a long and storied career as an actor. From his starring role in the original Star Trek television and movie series to a long stint on Broadway and now as the front man for travel deal finder Priceline, he’s been around the block a few times in his 81 years.
Now he’s got another reason to celebrate – and so he did. Shatner was in North Carolina on his “Shatner’s World” one-man-show tour and invited fan and millionth Twitter follower Troy Pound of South Carolina up to dinner.
He posted a cell phone video of the get together on YouTube Tuesday, where Pound, Shatner and Mrs. Shatner all had lunch at a local restaurant.
Unlike many “million fan” stars we could name, Shatner actually interacts with his fans personally, not through an intermediary. He and his wife regularly read and respond to tweets – especially while traveling – and Shatner says that he greatly enjoys reading tweets about a show just before he’s about to go on for it.
“I just love that I can read people’s tweets in the audience just before the show,” he told Mashable.
He also often thanks them for kind words or reviews of his performances. You can find Shatner on Twitter at https://twitter.com/#!/WilliamShatner
