It’s only been three hours and I’m already reporting, using, and praising it! Google Talk, that’s right Google Talk, is here.
I can say these words to describe it, to get you hyped up to download the 900kb thing: Simple, flexible, extremely flexible, does its thing and nothing else, no ads — NO ADS (or crap stuff like emoticons)!
You need a Gmail account to use it — drop me an e-mail if you don’t YET have one — but, you know, it’s worth the 900kb.
The only really bad complain I have with Google is file transfer — you need it, Google! I use services like Skype for basically business reasons and I transfer, I would say, approximately 15 or 20 files per day. Now, I cannot switch to Google Talk if I don’t have that. I agree — it’s everything I need and most importantly everything I don’t need, but what I need is, truly, some kind of a file transfer feature. It’s in beta, I realise, that’s why I’m not at all bashing it. Infact: it’s a suggestion.
As for my personal use, it’s everything. I won’t switch to it yet and I think I’ll wait until they add a file transfer feature to completely ditch Yahoo!, MSN, Skype, etc. (ok, maybe not Skype, I use it for international calls) — and yes — I will try my hardest to get my friends’ list to switch, but until then, Google Talk: you’re just one of them
